Fall from deer stand results in ICU stay for Gainesville bake shop co-owner

Cindy and Dewane Dillon, shown here in the Indian Grass Farms bake shop they opened recently in the old barber shop on the northwest corner of the Gainesville square, have put the business on temporary hold while Dewane recovers from a recent fall from a deer stand. He suffered several injuries and was flown by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in Springfield but expects to come home later this week.

Last weekend many Ozark County youth hunters and their adult hunting companions took to the woods in an attempt to bag a deer during the early session of Missouri’s youth deer season.

Historic home destroyed; Fire tears through Deupree home in Dora

Firefighters from Dora, Tecumseh and Eastern Douglas VFDs responded to the fire on Dora’s main street Friday evening, but they were only able to keep the fire from spreading to other structures. Within an hour, the house, built in 1924 with hand-planed lumber from the Deupree family’s planer mill, was on the ground.

A two-story house that had stood in Dora for 93 years was destroyed in less than an hour Friday night as a raging fire quickly reduced to ashes the home where Dick Deupree, 92, had grown
