At Freiman family benefit auction, local residents show big heart


The Bakersfield high school gym was packed Saturday night for the Freiman family benefit auction. Over 350 items were auctioned off, raising nearly $32,000, for the family of the late Luke Freiman.

Fire chief and family find a way forward after home destroyed in blaze


Volunteer firefighters from Timber Knob, Gainesville and Pontaic fire departments responded to a house fire Jan. 31 at Timber Knob fire chief Nancy Winslow’s house on Della Rose Lane. The house was a complete loss.

Timber Knob Volunteer Fire Department chief Nancy Winslow has been in the face of fire more times than she can count in her 25 years of service to the department.
