Bakersfield vs. Dora

Bakersfield senior Jacelyn McCormack goes up for a shot during the varsity game Monday, Jan. 9, at Dora. The cross-county rivals played half of a junior varsity game, which the Bakersfield Lady Lions won 24-9. The Dora Lady Falcons took a 39-32 varsity win in a nailbiter of a game that started with the Lady Lions up 12-2 after the first quarter buzzer. The Dora girls came out strong in the second quarter, scoring seven points and holding the Lions scoreless in the first four minutes of the period. The Bakersfield girls managed to hold a narrow lead and at halftime were up by 2 – 16-14. Both teams played hard in the third and ended the quarter tied up at 26-26. With three minutes remaining, Dora led the game 34-30 and wound up holding the lead to take the win.
