Schedules are being adjusted, square dancers are eagerly waiting, musicians are tuning up, vendors are organizing their wares and contestants are getting ready for the 51st Hootin an Hollarin, which fills the Gainesville square beginning Thursday. The three-day festival officially starts at 5 p.m. Thursday with a welcome by Gainesville mayor Don Luna. Here is a complete schedule of events:

Thursday, Sept. 15

Ozark County Historium opens at 10 a.m.

Hootin an Hollarin Quilt Show, 5 to 7 p.m. (note new location on Main Street south of the square next to the laundry); heritage quilts on display at the Historium.

5 p.m. – Welcome by Gainesville Mayor Don Luna

5:15 – 7:30 Ozark County Gospel Talent Show directed by Nancy Collins

7:30 – Hootin an Hollarin Queen Pageant, “Grandma’s Parlor,” emceed by Steve Rackley; musical entertainment provided by Logan Smith

9:00 – Square Dancing to music by Ashley Hull, Kim and Jim Lansford

Friday, Sept. 16

Ozark County Historium opens at 10 a.m.

Hootin an Hollarin Quilt Show, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (note new location on Main Street south of the square next to the laundry); heritage quilts on display at the Historium.

10 a.m. – Morey Sullivan Band on stage

11 a.m. – MoJo & Brian Band on stage

11 a.m. – Gospel Sing in the gazebo

Noon – Seth Nichols on the piano, on stage

1 p.m. – Tecumseh Trace in the gazebo

2 p.m. – Costume Parade (register at City Hall on northwest corner of the square)

3 p.m. – MoJo & Brian in the gazebo

3:30 – Princess pageants for first- through sixth-grade girls (Preregistration required; call Janette at 679-0391.)

4:15 – Michael Baillif music on stage

5 p.m. – Bed Races (west side of square)

5 p.m. – Louise Adams fiddle music on stage

6 – 7 p.m. – New Day Singers, on stage

7 p.m. – Oldfield Opry on stage

9 p.m. – Square Dancing to music by Ashley Hull, Kim and Jim Lansford

Saturday, Sept. 17

Ozark County Historium opens at 10 a.m.

9 a.m. – Horseshoe pitching (Saddle Club Grounds behind Century Bank)

9:30 a.m. – Outhouse Races (west side of square)

10 a.m. –Pet Show (All pets welcome. Register by stage.)

10 a.m. – Turkey shoot (Guns and Archery, across Highway 160 at Lick Creek Bridge east of square)

11 a.m. – Gospel Sing in the gazebo

11 a.m. – Morey Sullivan Band on stage

11:30 – Pie Contest (in front of Century Bank)

11:45 – Citizen of the Year Bill Trivitt and Parade Marshall Barbara Luna introduced on stage

12 – Blue Dogwood music on stage

1 p.m. – Possum Holler Fiddlers

2 p.m. – Big Parade

3:30 p.m. – Calling Contests on stage

4:30 p.m. – Old-fashioned Kids Games (in front of Century Bank)

4:30 – 5 p.m. – Levi Moore music on stage

5 – 5:30 p.m. – To be announced

5:30 – 6:30 – Sigafus Family folk music on stage

7:30 – Raffle winners announced

7:35 – Ozark Mountain Express music on stage

9 p.m. Square Dancing to music by Ashley Hull, Kim and Jim Lansford
