This year’s Jingle Bell Parade may be one of biggest yet

The 2019 Jingle Bell parade at the Wonders of Christmas festival, which steps off at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, and circles the  Gainesville square, is going to be extra-festive this year, says parade organizer Paula Rose.

She has been actively recruiting businesses, churches and community groups to join in on the fun, and she says currently, 14 businesses or groups are scheduled to participate with a float. Another 20-30 entries will participate with a vehicle or other entry, she said.

Gainesville’s Shelter Insurance - Douglas Hawkins Agency is sponsoring the $150 grand prize for the winning float. First place will be awarded $100, second place will win $75 and the third place winner will take home $50.

Those wishing to participate are asked to confirm their entry with Rose by calling her at 417-989-1282. Parade entries should line up behind Town &  Country by 6:30 p.m.

After the parade concludes, a Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be held in the gazebo, along with a performance by the Gainesville Elementary choir and visiting with Santa. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera or phone to take their own photos with Santa.
