Turner elected member of MAC board

Ozark County Presiding Commissioner John Turner was sworn in Jan. 17 as the District 20 member of the board of directors of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) during the MAC board meeting in Jefferson City. Turner, who was elected as the representative for District 20, which incorporates Barry, McDonald and Ozark Counties, at the annual meeting in November, said the MAC has ongoing matters throughout the year, and he expects to travel to MAC meetinågs three to four times during his term as a board member. MAC is a nonprofit corporation that provides assistance to its member counties in matters pertaining to local, state and federal government activities. The organization consists of more than 1,400 elected county officials including presiding commissioners, county clerks/election authorities, recorders, auditors, collectors, prosecutors, sheriffs, assessors, treasurers, public administrators, circuit clerks and coroners. According to the group’s website, mocounties.com, MAC is a lobbying alliance that represents local governments to improve services for Missouri taxpayers and citizens.
