Teenager injured in crash

Sydnie Williams, 18, of Vanzant was flown by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield Wednesday, Oct. 25, after sustaining moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 3:30 p.m. on Highway 181, about 5 miles north of Dora. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash report, Williams was traveling northbound on Highway 181 in a 2003 Ford F150, shown above, when she crossed the centerline and struck a 2005 Chevrolet GMC Sierra driven by 45-year-old Bakersfield resident Scott Uchtman, who was traveling in the opposite direction. No injuries were reported for Uchtman. A post on the the Dora VFD Facebook page  says the Williams vehicle was topping a hill and was pushed into the left lane by high winds just as the Uchtman vehicle was topping the hill at the same time. After impacting Uchtman’s truck, Williams ran off the roadway and overturned. She was wearing a seatbelt. The Ford F-150,  a total loss, was towed from the scene. The GMC Sierra sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The DVFD post said it responded in mutual aid with Eastern Douglas Fire & Rescue.
