Sentencing hearing in case where man broke officer’s jaw is reset to April 20

Jordan Haden, who was found guilty by a Wright County jury of second-degree assault and resisting arrest, had his sentencing hearing continued. This will be the second time the hearing has been rescheduled.

Haden was originally set to be sentenced on Feb. 18, but the courthouse was closed due to inclement weather. The case was continued to March 8, but online records indicate Associate Judge Elizabeth Bock, who is assigned to the case, was notified that Circuit Judge Craig Carter had an Douglas County jury trial that day and would need the entire second floor of the courthouse to conduct the trial while abiding by covid restrictions.

The newest hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in the Douglas County Courthouse before Bock.

The case is in connection with a Dec. 2, 2017, incident in which Haden is alleged to have broken the jaw of a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper and then attempted to flee the scene.
