Schedules announced for two upcoming state, federal holidays

Two upcoming holidays Feb. 12 and Feb. 15 will cause closures at some area offices and businesses. The Ozark County Times office will be open both days. Gainesville City Hall and the Gainesville License Office will be closed both days.

Lincoln’s birthday

Missouri state offices will be closed Friday, Feb. 12, in observance of Lincoln’s birthday.

Locally, the Friday closure will affect the 44th Judicial Circuit Court offices. Although most court offices will be closed, Ozark County Circuit Clerk and Recorder Becki Strong says the recorder’s office, which is a county office, will be open, and she will also be available in the circuit clerk’s office.

Ozark County Commissioners said the county generally chooses to be open and working on the Lincoln birthday holiday in order to give county employees an extra holiday on the day after Thanksgiving. After a brief discussion during the Feb. 8 commissioners meeting, the group agreed to keep that same schedule this year, which means county employees will be at work Friday, Feb. 12, but will have a paid holiday on Friday, Nov. 26.

Post offices will be open, and mail will be delivered.

Presidents Day

Presidents Day/Washington’s birthday, which is celebrated Monday, Feb. 15, this year, is a federal holiday, meaning federal, state and county employees, along with most banks, will be closed.

The Ozark County Courthouse will be closed; the Ozark County Commission will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, instead of on its regular Monday meeting day. Post offices will be closed, and mail will not be delivered.
