Pinwheel scavenger hunt is up and ready!

Ten-year-old twins Alli, left, and Addi Garrison, with their 6-year-old brother Eli, helped place several blue pinwheels around Ozark and Douglas counties over the weekend as part of a Helping Hand’s scavenger hunt organized in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. To find out more, join the “Child Abuse Awareness Photo Scavenger Hunt” group on Facebook.

The faith-based group Helping Hands is hosting a pinwheel scavenger hunt across the area in honor of Child Abuse Awareness month in April. Organizer Stacy Garrison says blue pinwheels have been scattered throughout Gainesville, Ava, Theodosia and Pontiac, and residents are  challenged to find them all and take photos.

Begin by joining the group “Child Abuse Awareness Photo Scavenger Hunt” on Facebook. “Take a picture with as many pinwheels as possible and post your pictures on the Facebook group to be entered into a drawing to win a gift card,” Garrison said. Rules, a list of pinwheel locations and a fun activity to do at each location will be posted on the group’s page, she said.

“Our goal is to bring awareness that we all must be the eyes and ears for the local children in our community. This year’s theme is ‘See Something, Say Something,” and we are hoping this will bring awareness to the needs of our local social workers and, most importantly, to the needs of our area children,” Garrison said.
