Ozark County receives $4,244 in Emergency Food and Shelter funds

Ozark County has been awarded $4,244 in federal funds through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. Now local agencies are invited to apply for the money, which is intended “to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.” 

A previous allotment of Emergency Food and Shelter funds to Ozark County was distributed through the Ozark County Ministerial Alliance and the Senior Citizens of Ozark County Board under the guidance of the Ozark County Health Department. To apply for the funds, local agencies should contact Rhonda Suter, OCHD administrator, at 417-679-3334. The deadline to apply is Jan. 20. 

Under the terms of the grant, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: (1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, (2) be eligible to receive federal funds, (3) have an accounting system, (4) practice nondiscrimination, (5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and (6) have a voluntary board if they are a private voluntary organization.  

Oregon County, which will receive $5,012, was the other county in District 15, along with Ozark County, to be awarded funds in the program. Douglas, Howell, Texas and Wright, also in District 15, received funds in previous allotments.
