Ozark County Food Pantry needs help raising funds to qualify for matching grant

The Ozark County Food Pantry is working to raise $5,000 so it can receive a dollar-for-dollar matching grant from Ozarks Food Harvest, the regional food bank for southwest Missouri.  The funds are being provided through a grant the regional food bank received recently from the Wal-Mart Foundation State Giving Program.

This is the eighth annual gift from the Wal-Mart Foundation’s State Giving Program that Ozarks Food Harvest has offered to its agencies as the “Wal-Mart Hunger Challenge” matching-grant opportunity, said Rhonda Suter, administrator of Ozark County Health Department, which oversees the local food pantry.  The funds Ozark County Food Pantry raises will be used to provide food for those in need here in Ozark County, she said.  The local food pantry has until March 1, 2018, to raise the $5,000, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar to total $10,000.  Those who wish to donate to the Ozark County Food Pantry may bring donations to the Ozark County Health Department or mail checks, payable to the food panty, to P. O. Box 180, Gainesville, MO 65655. Suter asks that doners to note on the memo line that the gift is designated for the “challenge grant.” For more information, call OCHD at 417-679-3334.
