New pastor and wife at Clear Springs Church

Joseph Myers, shown here with his wife, Chelsea, is the new pastor at Clear Springs Church near Dawt. Myers, who gew up in Jackson, Missouri, north of Cape Girardeau, recently moved to the Ozarks from Granbury, Texas, where he’s been living the last 16 years. Most recently, he has attended the Truett Seminary, an affiliate of Baylor University. Having completed his classroom studies, he’s now finishing up the online studies and expects to receive his certificate of ministry at year’s end. He was formerly a radio broadcaster and has experience in the music business. Clear Springs publicity volunteer Mary Ketchum says the congregation has enjoyed their new pastor’s gift for playing the guitar and banjo and “his unique Western swing style of music,” especially the hymn “Kneel at the Cross.” Ketchum said Myers is “more of a teacher than a preacher,” and is able to apply biblical teachings to current events. In addition to pastoring the church, he works at United Parcel Service in Willow Springs; Chelsea Myers works for Air Evac Lifeteam in West Plains. Regular weekly church services are at 11 a.m. Sundays. Myers also teaches an adult Bible study at 4 p.m. Wednesdays. Everyone is invited to all the services. The church is at PP Highway and County Road 318.
