Gainesville Veterinary Hospital is busy, welcomes new vet to the team

Dr. Gillian Henson-Van Wyk joined the Gainesville Veterinary Hospital staff in late May. She’s pictured here at the clinic with an armful of new patients.

Things are busy at the Gainesville Veterinary Hospital, and owner/veterinarians Bryan Luark and Katlin Hornig recently welcomed new veterinarian Dr. Gillian Henson-Van Wyk to the staff to help care for Ozark County residents’ many animal needs.

Henson graduated from veterinary school at Ross University after completing a clinical year at the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia.

She served as an intern at West Coast Equine Hospital in California and later worked as a general practice veterinarian at Clovis Veterinary Hospital in Clovis, New Mexico.

She and husband Pat relocated to Ozark County this year.

In her time away from work, Dr. Henson enjoys spending time with her husband, two cats, two (soon-to-be three) dogs and five horses.

Luark and Hornig took over the business in April 2020, continuing the animal care at the vet clinic that had been operated by now-retired veterinarians Bob Main and Robin Deck since they moved here in 1985.

The practice includes attention for most animals.

Hornig enjoys working with exotic animals and is experienced with equine lameness and reproduction.

Luark enjoys working with cattle producers and is experienced with equine dentistry.

Hospital hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To make an appointment, call the clinic at 417-679-4328.

After-hour emergency calls can also be made by contacting Luark at 970-471-3608 or Hornig at 719-580-7267.

Gainesville Veterinary Hospital is located at 50 Animal Clinic Road in Gainesville, off Highway 5, across the road from Antler Pizza and Package.
