Ozark County Sheriff Darrin Reed said his office is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred this morning around 4 a.m. at a residence on a county road off J Highway just north of the Missouri-Arkansas state line. Reed identified the victim as 27-year-old Robert Christian Chambers, of Gainesville, who was also the victim of a stabbing in October 2017; charges were later dismissed in that case. Reed said that case does not appear to be related to this morning's fatality. The suspect is in custody and several persons of interest are being questioned. The stabbing apparently occurred when one of those involved arrived at the residence to pick up some property, Reed said. An argument and fight broke out and the stabbing occurred. He expects an autopsy to be conducted Thursday in Springfield. The case is currently with Ozark County Prosecuting Attorney John Garrabrant, Reed said, who will determine if charges will be filed.
