Drive-in church service turns parking lot into pews

Cora Grace is the daughter of Dora residents Richard and Anna Lee. The outdoor service allows church-goers to worship together while heeding Centers for Disease Control guidelines for helping stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Pastor Betty Stanley delivers the message via microphone and loudspeakers. Participants in the service sit in their vehicles with windows rolled down after being directed to parking-area spots by volunteers who carefully measure the distance between cars with 6-foot sticks, pictured below. Stanley joked that she sometimes has trouble getting congregants to “raise their voices and say ‘Amen’” during the church’s regular indoor services. But they sure like to honk their horns!” Needmore’s drive-in Easter service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday. Everyone is invited. The Fountain Church on Highway 160 in Theodosia, across from Cash Saver Pantry, is also holding a drive-in Easter service; theirs will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday.
