Commissioners sign proclamations

Ozark County Commissioners Monday signed a proclamation supporting the designation of April as Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Awareness Month, and another proclamation designating April 25 as “Denim Day.” Residents are encouraged to wear denim that day to show support for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse. Pictured are, from left, Melissa Littleshield, victims’ advocate with the Christos House shelter for abuse victims, and commissioners (from left) Gary Collins, John Turner and Greg Donley. Christos House has three outreach offices, a women’s shelter and two resale shops in its service area, which includes Ozark County. The commissioners were told that Christos House is working to place a victims’ advocate in Gainesville at least twice a month to make the shelter’s resources more accessible here.
