Bonnie Honeycutt Hathaway, 95

Bonnie Honeycutt Hathaway, 95, of Springfield, died Sept. 1, 2020, in Springfield. A memorial service will be held at a later day.

She was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Theodosia, the daughter of Willis and Dora Pellham Honeycutt.

Mrs. Hathaway loved caring for those in need. She enjoyed working as a nurse’s aide at a children’s home in Gainesville, Florida. She later moved to California, where she provided in-home health care for elderly patients.

She liked living near the beach, so she made her home in cities like San Jose and Palm Springs, California, and Daytona, Bradenton and Gainesville in Florida. She had recently moved back to Springfield.

During her final years, she loved spending time with her daughter, and she always looked forward to visits from her grandsons. She was always happiest when cooking or doing yardwork.

She is survived by one sister, Versal Terry, of Theodosia; her daughter, Bonnie “Mitzi” Kelley of Springfield; and great-grandsons Matthew and Christopher Young of San Jose.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William Hathaway; her great-grandson Ronald Young Jr.; brothers Stanford, Elva, Herman and Alvin Honeycutt; sisters Gladys Marsh, Argie Willbanks, Helen Wathen and Dorothy Smith.
