Angel tree tags still need ‘adopting’

United Country Missouri Ozarks Realty office in Gainesville is participating in the annual Angel Tree program, an effort organized by the Missouri Division of Family Services in Gainesville. United Country agent Debra Schilling Smith, pictured here, says the office still has tags for four children that need to be “adopted” by area residents. Gifts need to be delivered back to area businesses by Tuesday, Dec. 17. Other area businesses that still had tags at press time Tuesday include Deb and Lou’s Cafe (2 tags left), Rockbridge Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch (6 tags left), Century Bank of the Ozarks in Theodosia (9 tags left), Stockmens Bank (15 tags left) and Kristie Ashmead at Michelle’s Shear Artistry (3 tags left). Through the program, underprivileged children provide a Christmas list of “wants” and “needs.” Each child’s list is then transferred onto a Christmas tag, which is hung on a tree at area businesses. The tags are picked up by local residents, who agree to “adopt” the child’s Christmas list by purchasing gifts on the tag.
