MDC hosts hunter ed skills session Oct. 2 at GHS

MDC is hosting a hunter education skills session at Gainesville High School on Saturday, Oct. 2.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will host a hunter education class at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the Gainesville High School community room (the former library).

To be eligible for the class, students must be at least 11 years old on the date of class. Participants must register online. To do so, visit mdc.mo.gov and follow the links to hunter education, skills session, select this class, and register.

Participants must complete the “classroom” portion on their own ahead of time and bring proof of completion with them when they come to the skills session on Oct. 2. To complete the classroom portion, students must get a student manual and complete all the chapter review questions and then bring the completed manual with them to the skills session Oct. 2. Or they may complete the classroom portion online and bring the printed certificate of completion to the skills session.

It costs $15 to complete the online option and print out the certificate of completion; the online fee must be paid by credit card. The student manual option is free.

For more information about the class, call MDC Agent Jerry Kiger, 417-989-1690, or MDC Agent Tom Leeker, 417- 989-1693.
