Abel Parker sets new Glade Top 10-mile trail run record
Abel Parker, 19, of Thornfield flies through an icy creek at the Glade Top Trail Run Saturday, April 7. Parker took first place overall in the 10.25 mile race and set a new course record, finishing in 1:12:51. Race director Liz Kyger said the number of runners who had pre-registered numbered close to 250 - the maximum for the race – but sub-freezing temps and slick roads kept about 100 of them at home. “We served barbecued chicken free to all runners, so we had plenty for second helpings for everyone,” Kyger said. All proceeds from the race go to the Pat Souder Henry scholarship fund for Ava High School seniors.
