Treasure Gallery hosts local authors’ book signing, music

Mike Hatcher

Betsy Ritchie

Treasure Gallery, at 5566 Highway 160 in Theodosia, will host a book-signing event and music jam at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25. Local authors Michael Hatcher and Betsy Ritchie will be on hand to sell and sign copies of their books.

Hatcher, founder of Briar Creek, a retreat for pastors and their families, is the author of a book that describes the development of the facility east of Theodosia. The story began with what Hatcher, a retired Navy submariner, says was an unmistakable message from God that occurred 13 years and 7,300 miles from Ozark County – in the American territory of Guam, where he was stationed at the time. His book is Briar Creek: A Vision of Faith.

Ritchie, of Thornfield, is the author of Critter Tales, a collection of stories drawn from Ritchie’s years of working with animals, including almost 20 years as an animal control officer in California. Ritchie and her husband, Jan, and their daughter Casey moved to Ozark County from Menifee, California., in 2011 after Jan, a retired plumber, “saw a fishing video” that attracted them to this area, Ritchie said in a 2011 interview after Critter Tales was published. Her latest book, Amanda’s Dream, is a novel about a woman who buys a house on the other side of the country when her “perfect life” comes unraveled. And then she finds out the house she has bought is haunted.

The music jam starts at 1 p.m. featuring local musicians and singers. Everyone is invited to bring instruments and join the jam.
