Volunteers at the Ozark County Historium are planning a new series of events for 2019 called Coffee and Conversation, with the first one coming up at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.
This first “conversation” will feature a group of folks who have spent their lives in the Theodosia/Ocie area, including H.K. Silvey, Kermit Schofield, Estel and Sue Robirds and others. The participants will talk about their memories of growing up in a simpler, less mobile time, when church and the one-room school were the focus of the communities, and shopping was limited to the local general stores.
Everyone is invited to attend and participate. There is no charge for admission, and coffee and cookies will be available. The format will be casual and intimate.
Please join us at the Historium, on the west side of the square in Gainesville, to hear more about the memories these friends have of how life used to be. Future events will focus on groups from other parts of the county.
In the case of inclement weather, the first Coffee and Conversation will be postponed until Thursday, Jan. 31. For more information, call the Historium at 679-2400, or email janettaber@gmail.com.
