Dora news: Sept. 12, 2018

We had a quick little shower Thursday evening, which was really needed.  We have tomatoes, peppers and okra in the garden yet.

Last week we were blessed with a visit from my sister Velva’s family. Velva’s daughter Nancy Sabo and her daughter Becky flew into Spring-field from Billings, Montana. My niece Mary Jo Anderson met them and brought them down to my house. My nephew Phil Carr from Denver and niece Linda Hermann came by car from Rapid City, South Dakota. Then, Linda’s daughter Kelley and her husband Paul came by motorhome from Chicago, Illinois, on Friday.

On Saturday afternoon, we all met Steve and Angel Cropper, Kenneth Kutter, Sandy and Bob Mizell, Gina and Chance Hollingshad, Melissa Girdley, Jerry and Jo Beth Hollingshad, and Jim, Devon, Kayla and Derrick Uhlmann at Sweeton Pond Cemetery. Velva Cropper Kelley’s children brought her ashes for burial. Velva passed away July 2, 2017, in Billings at the age of 99.

My granddaughter Racquel Uhlmann had a healthy baby boy on Saturday at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains. This is my ninth great-grandchild. Olivia Stevens, born July 3, was my eighth. I can’t keep up with them anymore.

A large crowd attended the funeral of Steve Pettit at the Ball Church near Dora on Thursday. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Carol and family.

Grandparents Day was a full house at Dora School last Friday.
