Lutie Indians win 2 of 3

The Lutie Indians picked up two wins this past week, beating Bakersfield and Norwood before losing to Gainesville on Friday night.

In the game against Bakersfield on Jan. 22, the Indians easily defeated the Lions, 63-46. Leading scorer for Lutie was Steven Andrews who had a double-double with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Dylan Burks netted 13 points for Lutie.

On Thursday, the Indians edged the Norwood Pirates, 48-46. Steven Andrews tallied another double-double with a game-high 16 points and 12 boards.

Gainesville proved to be too much for Lutie to handle as the Bulldogs bested the Indians on Friday night, 60-40. Levi Troia led the Indians with 11 points.

Lutie is 6-12 on the year and will travel to Forsyth on Feb. 1

"The boys are continuing to work hard and get better," said Lutie coach Brett Mitchell. "Our goal is to play our best basketball once the conference season starts and in districts."

Lady Indians

Meanwhile the Lady Indians lost to Licking on Jan. 21 while competing in the Mansfield Tournament. Mansfield beat Lutie 65-16.

Licking outscored the Lady Indians 25-1 in the first quarter and went on a 23-4 run in the second quarter to lead at the half, 48-5 en route to the blowout victory.

The Lady Indians will host Bradleyville Feb. 8 for Homecoming.
