Lutie girls 2-1 in Galena Tourney

The Lutie Lady Indians basketball squad was 2-1 last week in competition in the Galena Tournament, winning the consolation round.

Lutie opened the tournament with a loss to Forsyth, 50-17. Tamara Allmon was the leading scorer for Lutie with 8 points.

The Lady Indians made some adjustments and came back to beat Reeds Spring JV 33-21. Katie Allmon led Lutie with 11 points, followed by Haley Wood with 8.

In the game for the consolation prize, Lutie edged out Wheaton, 36-35, behind Brianna Howard's game-high 13 points. Katie Allmon netted 9 for Lutie.

"It was a good tournament for us," said Lutie coach Adam Grant. "We were competitive for most of the tournament, and the girls have shown a lot of improvement."

The Lady Indians are back in tournament action this week in the Mansfield Tournament.

In the meantime, the Lutie boys lost on Jan. 15 to the Hollister Tigers, 60-37. Individual statistics were not provided by Lutie's coaches. Lutie will travel to Gainesville Friday for an intra-county matchup with the Bulldogs.
