Lutie boys top Bakersfield, fall to Bradleyville in homecoming thriller

Lutie's boys' and girls' varsity basketball squads fell a little short in coming up with homecoming wins Friday night against the Bradleyville Eagles. Lutie's JV girls did manage a 25-19 win in a two-quarter game, though.

The varsity boys' contest was a barnburner as the Indians trailed by 2 at the half, 31-29, but couldn't pull out a win against a tough Bradleyville squad.

The Eagles won, 65-61.

Lutie's leading scorer was Dylan Burks with 14 points. Steven Andrews had 11 rebounds.

In the girls' game, the Lady Indians, plagued by turnovers, lost to Bradleyville 67-32.

Individual statistics were not provided by Lutie coaches.

In other games, the Lutie boys beat Bakersfield on Feb. 5 at Bakersfield, 54-46.

Lutie coach Brett Mitchell said his team was able to get the win despite being down 8-0 early in the game.

Corey Christeson led all scorers with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

Lutie boys and girls host Dora Thursday night before district tournament action begins Feb. 16. The Indians are seeded fifth in districts and will play Exeter Saturday at Sparta.
