BIG BOB’S FISHING REPORT

Top-water fishing for bass has been exceptional this year. Throw a spook, popper or floating jerkbait, and hold on! This bite is best early mornings and again just before dark. Spinnerbaits, Dixee jet spoons and rattle traps have all been effective. Throw the Dixee Jet spoon off main lake bluff ends for best results. Even though the spawn is about over, a Carolina-rigged lizard is still a hard bait for bass to resist.
Catfish are active, and quite a few have been caught on limb lines. Rod and reel and trot lines have been effective also. Night crawlers or small bluegill are your best baits for catfish.
Liner Creek around the ramp area has been hot for white bass, walleye and catfish. Several anglers have been wading the flooded brush and catching lots of fish. This would be a great place for a canoer as the water around this brush is only several feet deep. If you want to chase these white bass, use a rooster tail, swimming minnow or a slider.
This week’s specials are 25 percent off all spinning rods, all 10 packs of swimming minnows are $1, and all soft plastics are 25 percent off. Now is the time to stock up for the summer. See you on the water.
