BIG BOB’S FISHING REPORT

White bass have been caught from the state line on Norfork as far north as you can get. Live minnows, sliders and swimming minnows are all effective on these fish. White bass on Bull Shoals are still staging in Gulley and Big Creek and will become more abundant as the water temperature rises. Crappie are active around brush piles in 10 to 15 feet of water. Normally crappie would be spawning this time of year, but the water is still too cold. Live minnows, chrome-head jigs and small spoons all work well on these fish.
Bass are still being caught on the Bama Rig as well as spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Square-bill crankbaits fished parallel to the brush line will result in a good bag of fish. Colder than usual water temperatures have bass staged for the spawn but not yet ready to spawn. Carolina-rigged lizards always work, and now is a good time to try this rig. If you are a jig fisherman, try fishing in 15 to 18 feet off main lake bluffs.
Walleye are in the river system on Norfork and can be caught on jerkbaits and live minnows. These fish will remain in the river system for a few more weeks as they spawn. On Bull  Shoals, the Bama rig has been effective in catching walleye as well as live minnows.
This week’s special is 20 percent off all spinnerbaits in stock. War Eagle spinnerbaits are hard to find as the company sold out to Pradco, a large lure owner. As of this writing, Pradco admits they do not have the stock needed for this season. Right now we have a decent stock of these items, but when they are gone there is no guarantee when we will be able to get more. This sale will run through Saturday, April 21.
