Easter church services

Passover Seder
Hilltop Victory Chapel in Thornfield will host its fourth annual Passover Seder at 6 p.m. Friday, March 30. The evening will be spent in devotion and dinner in celebration of the Passover Lamb.
The community is invited to join. Reservations need to be made by Saturday, March 24, so enough food and drink can be purchased. A $7 donation is recommended, and seating is limited.  For information contact Elaine Burnett at Theodosia Hardware  417-273-4821.


Clear Springs Church near Dawt will have a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday at Pastor David Evans’ home on County Road 339 across from the church (take the second driveway after the substation). Brunch will be served at the church after the sunrise service, and the regular Easter worship service will begin at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to join the congregation in a joyous celebration of the Resurrection.

First Baptist Church of Gainesville is observing Good Friday with the Ozark County Community Choir performing a cantata service beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, March 30. The choir’s performance of “No More Night,” will be followed by a message from Pastor Adam Drumm. Easter Sunday services begin with sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. in the pavilion at Hoerman Park. The church will serve breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will continue serving until Sunday service starts at 10 a.m. For more information, see the church’s website, http://gainesvillefbc.org/

First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Gainesville will hold an Easter communion service beginning at 10:55 a.m. April 1  The church is located at 60 Disciples Lane, across from Hoerman Memorial Park in Gainesville.

Frontier Baptist Church in Pontiac will celebrate Easter with an early morning service by  evangelist Randy Dalton at 7:30 a.m.
Breakfast will be served following the church service.
Sunday School begins at 10 a.m., with morning service by Pastor Bruce DeWeese to follow at 10:45 a.m.
Easter baskets will be provided for every child. To get to the church, take Highway W to County Road 609 in Pontiac.

Needmore Church of God will begin its observance of Holy Week showing Mel Gibson’s movie, The Passion of the Christ, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 23.
A Holy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. March 29 will include communion and foot-washing. The celebration of  Resurrection Day will begin with a sunrise service at 7 a.m. in the chapel of the church’s new building, followed by breakfast.
Sunday school with classes for all ages will begin at 9:45 a.m., with morning worship at 10:50. A program of special Easter music is planned during the service.
“We invite everyone to join us as we observe the suffering and death of our Lord and celebrate his glorious resurrection,” said Pastor Betty Stanley.
Needmore Church of God is located about 3 miles northeast of Hodgson Mill on Highway 181 south of Dora.
