 Join us for the first-Sunday fried chicken dinner fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 6. You’ll enjoy a delicious dinner while helping The Center – and also the Bakersfield students who will be serving the meal to collect tips for the Scholar Bowl, an academic Quiz Bowl in which students compete with other area schools to answer challenging academic questions for a specific amount of points.

Wednesday, May 2: deep-fried shrimp, baked potato, Tuscan-blend vegetables, fresh-baked roll, cake and ice cream. Thursday, May 3: pulled-pork sandwich, tropical fruit, macaroni salad, chocolate chip cookie. Friday, May 4: fried fish, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, brownie. . Sunday, May 6: first-Sunday fried chicken dinner fundraiser, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, May 7: pepper steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, Scandinavian-blend vegetables, homestyle biscuits, lemon cake. Tuesday, May 8: breakfast for lunch, cheese omelet w/peppers, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, bread budding. Wednesday, May 9: chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy country-blend vegetables, fresh-baked roll, butterscotch brownies. Thursday, May 10: pork ribs, sweet potato, coleslaw, homestyle biscuit, poke cake.

OATS transportation is available to the entire county and to anyone regardless of age, income, disability, race, gender, religion or national origin. If you don’t see your area listed, call driver Angela Pleasant, 417-343-0573, for help arranging your ride. For rides from Bakersfield, Caulfield and Dora, call Jean Lawing, 284-7377; from Theodosia and Gainesville, call Mary Piepergerdes, 679-4142.To arrange rides to Springfield, call Lawing or Pleasant. This is the schedule for the rest of May: Every Thursday of the month, Caulfield and Bakersfield go to West Plains. Tuesday, May 8: Theodosia and Gainesville go to West Plains. Monday, May 14: Pontiac, Gainesville and Theodosia go to Springfield. Tuesday, May 15: Theodosia and Gaines-ville go to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Monday, May 21: Caulfield and Bakersfield go to Mountain  Home. Tuesday, May 22: The whole county goes to Gainesville. The business meeting, open to the public, will be this day at The Center at 12:30 p.m. The food pantry will be open this day at a special time for OATS riders only.
