Join us for the popular first-Sunday fried chicken dinner fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 4 at The Center. The meal includes a beverage and dessert, and the cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children under age 10. The Bakersfield High School junior class will be serving the meal and using their tips they collect to fund the Junior/Senior Prom and 2019 Graduation Project.
A Thrivent Financial Action Team is partnering with The Center, providing $250 in seed money to purchase the food for this fundraiser. For more information, call 417-679-4746 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Menus

Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is open to everyone. The cost is $6 for those younger than 60; a $3.50 donation is requested for those over 60. Call 679-4746 to order take-out for 25 cents more.

Wednesday, Feb. 28: meatloaf, Gouda and bacon mac-and-cheese, green beans, fresh-baked roll, banana split cake. Thursday, March 1: Pot roast, country-blend vegetables, roasted potatoes, fresh-baked roll, peanut butter bars. Friday, March 2: Fried fish, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, brownies. Monday, March 5: BBQ beef, salad, seasoned wedges, country-blend vegetables, Mary Lee’s dumb cake. Tuesday, March 6: chicken Parmesan over pasta, Tuscan vegetables, garlic bread, cherry chip cake. Wednesday, March 7: Birthday lunch: shrimp, roasted potatoes, country-blend vegetables, fresh-baked roll, birthday cake and ice cream. Thursday, March 8: lasagna, California-blend vegetables, garlic bread, peach cobbler.

OATS transportation is available to the entire county and is available to anyone regardless of age, income, disability, race, gender, religion or national origin. If you don’t see your area listed, call driver Angela Pleasant, 417-343-0573, for help arranging your ride. For rides from Bakersfield, Caulfield and Dora, call Jean Lawing, 284-7377; from Theodosia and Gainesville, call Mary Piepergerdes, 679-4142.To arrange rides to Springfield, call Lawing or Pleasant.

Tuesday, March 6: Theodosia and Gainesville go to Ava. Monday, March 12: Pontiac, Gainesville and Theodosia go to Springfield. Tuesday, March 13: Theodosia and Gainesville go to West Plains. Monday, March 19: Caulfield and Bakersfield go to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Tuesday, March 20: Theodosia and Gainesville go to Mountain Home. Tuesday, March 27: The whole county goes to Gainesville.  The business meeting, to be held at 12:30 p.m. at The Center, is open to the public. The food pantry is open this day at a special time for OATS riders only.
