Lady Falcons having winning season

The Dora Lady Falcons played Van Buren, Doniphan and Neelyville last week, and coach Dylan Fox said, for the most part, his team has been playing well. The Lady Falcons held an 8-6 record at the end of the week after a rough loss to Van Buren and wins over Doniphan and Neelyville.

“We had a bad game against a really good Van Buren team,” Fox said of the 11-1 loss. “The girls didn’t play well, and Van Buren used their speed and exposed some weaknesses, but it was a good learning experience and wake up call for the girls.”

The Dora girls played Doniphan Thursday and won 4-3. “Doniphan is a tough team,” Fox said. “The girls played well defensively and had a lot of runners on base. We just couldn’t get a big hit to open up the scoring.”

The lack of big hits was definitely not a problem when the Lady Falcons faced Neelyville on Friday. “We ended up beating Neelyville 16-6, and had 20 hits in that game,” Fox said. “Neelyville isn’t bad, and their pitching isn’t bad at all – we just hit it that well.”

Kryslyn Colvin and Keeli Land both had big weeks with Colvin hitting 5-11 on the week, and Land going 7-10. “These two have been solid in the middle of our lineup and have really stepped up this year” said Fox. “Desiree Downen also had a good week, hitting 5-10, along with Mary Fehr also going 5-10.”
