Lady Bulldogs win first in Sparta tournament

The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs' basketball team improved to 10-1 and 2-0 in conference play by beating three teams and winning first place in the Sparta Tournament.
Madison Strong was named tournament MVP for her explosive offensive performances, scoring 67 points in the three games against Bradleyville, Seymour and Sparta. Strong and Abby Britt were also named to the All-Tournament Team.
After beating Bradleyville 61-22 and Seymour 58-38, Gainesville faced off against host Sparta in the championship game.
Gainesville's Sarah Evans hit a free throw with 5.8 seconds left in the game to help secure the win as the Lady Bulldogs came from 11 down in the first half to defeat Sparta 56-54.
Madison Strong scored 25 points to lead Gainesville, while Abby Britt had 11. Brianna Strain netted 8 points while Sara Jo Cunningham chipped in 6. Tali Rose contributed with 3 and Destiny Scott added 2 while Sarah Evans' late-game free throw was her contribution.
