Lady Bulldogs go 4-2 on the week

The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs softball team brought home the consolation trophy from the Norwood Tournament Saturday. After a first game 7-10 loss to Salem, the Lady Bulldogs came back strong to defeat Hartville 8-5 and Seymour 10-3.
Thursday, Sept. 17, the Gainesville girls beat Willow Springs 13-3, then hosted the Alton Lady Comets on Friday, adding a 5-2 win to their record. The Lady Bulldogs’ record stands at 9-6 after a 20-0 win over Koshkonong Monday.
“The girls demonstrated the ability to stay focused through a busy week,” said coach Morris Jenkins. “This was a good test as we gear up for districts.  Our team is showing good progress in taking good at-bats, not swinging at pitches out of the strike zone.”  
Katelyn Brantingham pitched every inning for the week, the coach said.
“She showed tremendous determination to keep battling and pitched well.  Our defense is also playing well behind her,” Jenkins said.  “Overall our progress was good, I just hope to find ways to keep improving through districts.”
The team travels to Hollister Thursday and will host Mansfield Monday, Sept. 28.
