Kristen Simpson awarded John T. and Laura E. Dalton Education Scholarship

Gainesville High School 2015 graduate Kristen Simpson, center, daughter of Greg and Shaun Simpson of Gainesville, was recently presented with the John T. and Laura E. Dalton Education Scholarship award during an informal luncheon at Cookie’s Restaurant in Theodosia shared by, from left, GHS counselor Melanie DeWeese, Laura Dalton, Kristen and her mother, and Community Foundation of the Ozarks representative Carol Silvey. Laura Dalton established the CFO scholarship to recognize subjects her husband, John, had loved – science and mathematics – and also to assist a student who plans a career utilizing mathematics. The Daltons settled in West Plains 17 years ago after traveling the world while pursuing careers in technology. The CFO committee, consisting of Dalton, Rod Hamby and Silvey, selected Kristen, now attending Missouri State University in Springfield, based on applications from area schools, including those prepared for Gainesville students by DeWeese.
