Gainesville, Lutie teams pick up baseball wins

The Gainesville Bulldogs baseball team got the spring season into swing last week with a big win over the Alton Comets, 8-1 on March 26. Seniors Logan Strong and Blake Garrison were 3-3.

The JV Bulldogs also picked up a win, 6-2.

On March 27, the Bulldogs dropped one to the Mountain Grove Panthers, 5-2. Gainesville's Jim Donley went 2-3 to lead the Bulldogs.

Gainesville finished the week with a 10-4 loss at Cabool, but coach Wes Ucthman said the game was a lot closer than the score indicated.

"Both of our losses were plagued by errors," Uchtman said. "We hope to learn from our mistakes to help us later in the season."

The Bulldogs will host Mansfield on April 10.

Lutie clips Kosh

The Lutie Indians defeated Koshkonong in high school baseball action on March 29, 11-7.

Jake Christeson pitched 7 innings in relief and gave up 3 runs. Tyler Troia homered for the Indians to help them get the win.

Lutie will play at Seymour on Thursday and host Dora on April 12.
