Gainesville gets wins over Forsyth, Couch

The Gainesville Bulldogs are off to a hot start, boasting a record of 5-1 and picking up wins this past week over Forsyth and Couch.
Playing Forsyth on Dec. 13, Gainesville cruised to a 56-38 win. Three days later the Bulldogs hosted the Couch Indians and again easily defeated their foes, 56-34.
It wasn't a cake walk at Forsyth to begin with, as the Panthers jumped out to an 18-17 first-quarter lead. But the Bulldogs clamped down the defensive vise the rest of the way, holding the Panthers to single-digit quarters to seal the victory.
The Bulldogs had three players in double figures, Logan Strong with 15 and Paxton Smith and Robbie Marshall with 10 apiece.
Hosting Couch on Friday, a slow start again plagued the Bulldogs as they saw an 8-8 tie with the Indians after one quarter. But Gainesville went on a 13-3 tear in the second quarter to take a 21-11 lead into the locker room at the half.
The offensive moxie followed the Bulldogs back out onto the floor in the second half as Gainesville outscored Couch 18-5 in the third quarter on their way to the 22-point win.
Cody Garlough had 14 points to lead the Bulldogs, followed by Robbie Marshall with 12 and Paxton Smith and Zach Voss with 8 each. Logan Strong and Kyle Clayton each had 4 points while Lukas Lok and Jim Donley each chipped in 2. Josh Peter and Seth Evans each had 1 point.
The Bulldogs will be playing in the Cabool Holiday Tournament over the Christmas break.
