Gainesville FBLA members excel at state conference

<p class="p1">Thirty members and three advisers from the Gainesville High School FFA chapter attended the 2017 state leadership conference April 2-4 in Springfield. The conference is the pinnacle of the Missouri FBLA year, with more than 4,000 students competing for a chance to attend the national leadership conference in Anaheim, California, in June.</p><p class="p1">The Gainesville chapter continued its legacy of leadership once again with successful competitors and state officer campaigning. Gainesville students who qualified to compete at the National Leader-ship Conference are:</p><p class="p1">• Social media team – Michia Jenkins, Aspyn Britt and Chasity Mansker</p><p class="p1">• Thomas Pointer – future business leader, job interview and Who’s Who in Missouri FBLA</p><p class="p1">• Eli Amyx – Missouri parliamentary procedures super team</p><p class="p1">• Faith Harlin – Missouri state vice president of communications</p><p class="p1">Other top 10 finalists included the parliamentary procedure team of Eli Amyx, Shelby Kinsey, Madison Trivitt, Blakely Morrison and Natalie Kiger, who placed eighth, and Eli Amyx, who placed eighth in the introduction to parliamentary procedure team test.</p><p class="p1">Eli Amyx and Shelby Kinsey were selected as members of the Missouri FBLA Buzz Squad at the state leadership conference. “They had the unique opportunity to dive deep into the social media experience,” said FBLA adviser Patsy Hambelton. “They were tasked with managing the many social media accounts at the conference, filming recap videos and actively engaging with members, advisers and sponsors. Being part of the Buzz Squad is a resume builder for these dedicated members,” she said.</p><p class="p1">Members recognized for completing business achievement awards, a high school leadership development program, were Madison Trivitt, future, and Eli Amyx, Faith Harlin and Shelby Kinsey, business.</p><p class="p1">The Gainesville chapter placed fourth in the Main Street Missouri project and was recognized for its participation in the state March of Dimes and  Chapter Assistance programs. The chapter was awarded the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit for the 28th consecutive year and also the gold level status of Chapter of the Year for the fourth year.</p>
