Dora Lady Falcons compete in Cabool Tournament

The Dora Lady Falcons competed in the Cabool Tournament last week and took on Houston in the first round on Dec. 7.
“We played them back to back,” said Dora coach Bob Holland. “We played them Thursday, and they beat us by 39. Then we played them Monday in the tournament, and they beat us by 24.”
The Lady Falcons were down by just 2 points in the first half, but then Mak Gardner and Ashlynn Vanatter picked up their third fouls. “We played better in the second game and shot the ball better,” said Holland. “Houston is going to make you look bad and play bad because they’re just big and fast.”
Mak Gardner led the scoring for the Lady Falcons with 13, followed by Kryslyn Colvin and  Ashlynn Vanatter with 4 each. Emma Berry scored 1. Kryslyn Colvin snagged 7 rebounds, followed by Gardner with 6. Gardner also led in assists and steals with 3 each. Tommi Gardner led in deflects with 4.
On Dec. 10, the Lady Falcons defeated Cabool in the second round of the tournament 43-21 and went on to compete with Seymour in the final round but lost, 41-48.
