Masons donate to Dora, Gainesville backpack programs

At Dora School, the $500 check was presented by, from left, Masons Bobby Grisham and Max Moss. It was accepted by faculty member Ginny Robinson, who sponsors the schools’ backpack program with fellow teacher Crystal Leroy, and elementary principal Brett Mitchell.

The Robert Burns Lodge’s $500 check to the Gainesville School’s backpack program was presented by Masons Jim McConnaughy, left, Max Moss, Bryon Jackson, Bobby Grisham, Cody Gosdin and Ray Coahran (far right). Junior high principal Ericka Armstrong and teacher Stephanie Oswald accepted the gift.

Robert Burns Masonic Lodge in Gainesville recently presented $500 checks to the Dora and Gainesville schools to support their backpack programs, which provides supplemental food to students. The funds come from microwave popcorn sold at the schools’ ballgames, primarily by Masonic Home representative Bobby Grisham, with help from his fellow Masons when needed. The funds raised locally by the popcorn sales are matched by the Masonic Home of Missouri, through its Creating-A-Partnership program, which supports certain benevolent initiatives related to the health and well-being of children. Cash donations to local lodges can also be matched by the Masonic Home. Make checks payable to Robert Burns Lodge, noting “Creating a Partnership” on the memo line and mail c/o Bobby Grisham,  P.O. Box 223, Gainesville, MO 65655.
