Dora beats Gainesville in districts, Lady Lions' season ends

It's been called an epic battle all season long. The Gainesville Bulldogs and the Dora Falcons Falcons squared off Thursday night in their fourth and final meeting of the year — in the semifinals of the district tournament.

And a battle it was. Having won two of the three games against the Falcons, the Bulldogs weren't about to go down without a fight.

But the Dora Falcons prevailed in an overtime thriller, 71-63. The Falcons now face Norwood in the district championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield.

The Falcons lost to the Pirates 61-50 in their only previous meeting this year at Norwood on Jan. 7.

Meanwhile, the Bakersfield Lady Lions lost in the semifinals of their district tournament, falling to Exeter, 63-52.

All other Ozark County teams have been eliminated from district action.
