Tecumseh news: April 4, 2018

How time gets away! Where did March go? April 1 brought back memories of my oldest sister, Ruth Crawford, marrying Dewey Moody on April 1, 1934. We teased them about it being April Fool’s Day.  
Dewey was our Ozark County clerk, and before they married, he boarded with Arless Huffman’s family. They lived in Gainesville in a house that stood where the Ozark County Health Department is now. Dewey played his guitar with circuit clerk John Wilhoit, who played the fiddler, and they entertained at parties held in our homes. Ruth and Dewey and one son, Warren, and when he got to be a teenager, he began playing the fiddle too and became pretty well known in the area. None of us had radios back then as we would later on.
Later my sister did order a Victrola and some records. What an advancement that was! I’ve still got some of the records. They play songs like “Sidewalks of New York,” and some gospel songs, and “I’m Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover” (I sing that around here a lot).
In an older church bulletin I recently found a caption I enjoyed. It says, “When God buries the hatchet He doesn’t leave the handle aboveground.”
The flu bug has been making its rounds.
Sympathy is expressed to Harry Davidson’s family. He is missed in our church family and our neighborhood.
There was a big cookout and Easter egg hunt for 29 people on Sunday afternoon at Jerry Miller’s house in Tecumseh. Her son Mark had a lot of friends present. Jerry said she recently visited Bob Eswine, her neighbor, who is 91.
On Monday, Dave and Karen Davis took me to see my foot doctor in Mountain Home, and we enjoyed having lunch at Skipper’s. We saw Winona Britt there too.
I enjoyed having my cousin Lyle Mishler from Springfield visit me recently. Some of his relatives--the Jim Mishler family--lived in Sand Ridge across Lick Creek from my husband Eldon Pitcock’s family in years past.
