Bakersfield Lady Lions win one, lose one

The Bakersfield Lady Lions defeated Lutie’s Lady Indians 56-34 Friday night on the Lutie court.
Jace McCormack had 16 points and 6 assists for Bakersfield. Syrena Carter added 12 points, and Mariah Burnett chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Destiny Johnson added 4 steals to go along with 8 points and 4 assists.
Monday night, Bakersfield was narrowly defeated by the Thayer Lady Bobcats, 60-56.
Bakersfield led 20-15 after the first quarter, but the lead was down to 1 point with the score standing at 31-30 at the half-time buzzer.   Bakersfield pushed the lead back out to 5, taking a 48-43 lead into the fourth quarter before turnovers got Thayer back into the game. 
Syrena Carter made two free throws with 28 seconds left to give Bakersfield a one-point lead, but Thayer went back in the lead with a layup.  Bakersfield had a chance to retake the lead, but a 12-footer from Jacelyn McCormack rolled off the rim.  Thayer made one of two free throws with 17 seconds left, and Bakersfield got another chance to tie with 8 seconds left but came up short.
Syrena Carter led Bakersfield with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Destiny Johnson added 18 points, shooting 6 for 9 from behind the three-point line.
In JV action, Thayer won a two-quarter contest, 25-12.  Mckenzie Lester led the JV with 6 points.
